getting started

how do I start tracking my sleep?
  1. open SleepMode app
  2. go to the home screen
  3. tap the "Start Sleep" button
  4. place your phone face-down on a flat surface
  5. your sleep session will begin automatically
tip: make sure your phone has enough battery and the app stays open for accurate tracking.
what are streaks and how do they work?
streaks track your consistency in maintaining phone-free sleep:
  • current streak: consecutive nights of phone-free sleep
  • best streak: your longest consecutive streak ever
  • streaks reset if you skip a night or interrupt a session early
  • aim for at least 6 hours of phone-free time to count toward streaks
how do I add sleep sounds?
  1. tap "Add Sleep Sounds" on the home screen
  2. browse available sounds (light rain, thunder, etc.)
  3. tap the + button next to any sound to add it
  4. adjust individual sound volumes using sliders
  5. tap pause/play to control playback

you can mix multiple sounds together to create your perfect sleep environment.

sleep tracking

why did my sleep session stop early?
sleep tracking may stop if:
  • you picked up your phone during the night
  • the phone was moved or turned face-up
  • the app was closed or stopped
  • your device ran out of battery
  • battery optimization settings force-closed the app
solution: ensure "allow background activity" is enabled for SleepMode in your device settings and disable battery optimization for the app.
what is sleep quality and how is it calculated?
sleep quality in SleepMode is a metric based on:
  • total phone-free time duration
  • number of night awakes (phone pickups)
  • consistency of your sleep schedule
  • whether you completed a full sleep session
note: SleepMode tracks phone-free time, not actual sleep physiology. for medical sleep tracking, consult a healthcare professional.
can I view my sleep history?
yes! view your sleep history in multiple ways:
  • statistics tab: see weekly overview with daily breakdown
  • recaps: access weekly, monthly, and annual summaries
  • pro users: export your complete sleep data

how do I cancel my subscription?
for iOS:
  1. open settings on your device
  2. tap your name at the top
  3. tap "subscriptions"
  4. select SleepMode
  5. tap "cancel subscription"
for android:
  1. open google play store
  2. tap menu → subscriptions
  3. select SleepMode
  4. tap "cancel subscription"
important: cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date to avoid being charged for the next period. you'll retain pro access until the end of your current billing period.
can I get a refund?
all sales are final. refund requests must be made directly through your app store:
  • iOS: visit apple's "report a problem" website
  • android: contact google play store customer service
SleepMode does not control app store refund policies. refund approval is at the discretion of apple or google.
I purchased pro but features are still locked. what should I do?
try these steps:
  1. close and reopen the SleepMode app
  2. check your internet connection
  3. go to settings → tap "restore purchases"
  4. verify the purchase went through in your app store account
  5. if issue persists, contact mallik.puranjan@gmail.com with your purchase receipt

technical support

sounds aren't playing. what should I do?
  1. check your device volume and ensure it's not muted
  2. ensure SleepMode has audio permissions enabled
  3. check if sounds need to be downloaded (look for download icons)
  4. close and restart the app
  5. ensure you have stable internet for streaming (or download for offline)
  6. update to the latest version of SleepMode
  7. restart your device
the app keeps crashing. how can I fix this?
  1. update SleepMode to the latest version
  2. update your device operating system
  3. clear app cache (settings → apps → SleepMode → clear cache)
  4. uninstall and reinstall the app (your data will sync if you're a pro user)
  5. ensure you have sufficient storage space on your device
  6. if problem persists, contact support with device model and OS version
my sleep statistics disappeared. can I recover them?
if you have SleepMode Pro with cloud sync enabled:
  1. go to settings → cloud sync
  2. tap "sync now"
  3. your statistics should restore automatically
if cloud sync was not enabled:

unfortunately, statistics stored only locally cannot be recovered if deleted or lost. we recommend enabling cloud sync (pro feature) to prevent data loss.

prevention: enable cloud sync in settings to protect your data across devices and prevent loss.
tracking stops when I lock my phone. how do I fix this?
this is usually a device setting issue:
  1. ensure SleepMode has background activity permissions
  2. check battery optimization settings aren't restricting SleepMode
  3. go to device settings → apps → SleepMode → battery → "unrestricted"
  4. ensure "allow background activity" is enabled for SleepMode
  5. restart the app and device
important: the phone must be placed face-down for tracking to work properly.
how do bedtime reminders work?
  1. go to settings → bedtime reminder
  2. enable the reminder toggle
  3. set your preferred reminder time
  4. you'll receive a gentle notification at that time

bedtime reminders help you build a consistent sleep schedule and remind you to put your phone down.

data & privacy

how do I delete my data?
delete local data:
  1. open SleepMode
  2. go to settings → account
  3. tap "delete all data"
  4. confirm deletion
delete cloud data:

email mallik.puranjan@gmail.com with subject line "data deletion request" and include:

  • your registered email address
  • type of data to delete (account, sleep statistics, preferences, all data)

we'll process your request within 48 hours.

can I export my sleep data?
yes! pro users can export their sleep data:
  1. go to settings → data management
  2. tap "export sleep data"
  3. choose format (json or csv)
  4. save or share the exported file

tips & best practices

how can I improve my sleep streaks?
  • set a consistent bedtime and use bedtime reminders
  • place your phone face-down away from your bed
  • use sleep sounds to help you fall asleep faster
  • charge your phone in another room if possible
  • aim for at least 7-8 hours of phone-free time
  • don't check your phone if you wake up during the night
what are the best sound combinations for sleep?
